High quality of service and economical geographical
coverage are the two challenges today’s network
designers are faced with. To optimize the quality of
signal and minimize the quantity of Cells, Advantech AMT
has released a family of Cell Extender products.

System Description
The unit consists of the following sections:
- A Receive section that includes diplexers, two low
noise amplifiers connected in parallel for redundancy
purpose, a switch at the input and a switch at the
ouptut.
- A Transmit section that includes diplexers, two
HPAs also connected in parallel, a splitter/detector
and a combiner detector.
- A redundant DC/DC converter system.
- A monitor and control cardboard.
- Two heat sinks, a housing with connectors and a
cable assembly.
Control interface assignments
1. Reverse power shut down
2. High temperature alarm
3. Temperature shut down
4. Partial power supply failure
5. Over RF power shutdown
6. Input power
7. Output power
8. Indication for ambient temperature drop below
–40°C
Power requirements
The Mast Head Unit operates from a DC voltage source of
-48 V D.C. A redundant system of two DC/DC converters
supplies a voltage of +12 V @ 25 A Max.
Cooling
The unit utilizes natural convection air cooling. The
heat sinks and ambient air can dissipate up to 240 watts
of generated heat and will not allow more than 40°C
above ambient air.
Lightning protection
The diplexer ports connected to the antenna and the
ground station are lightning protected.
