The Advantech AMT MMDS Modular Broadband Transmitting
System consists of two main elements, an Indoor
Up-Converter/ Amplifier (ADVMU-030) and an Outdoor
Booster Amplifier (AWMA-S). The AWMA-S series of Booster
Amplifiers is available in output power of 100, 150 and
200 Watts. The broadband system is transparent to the
type of modulation or encoding scheme. The Indoor
Up-Converter/ Amplifier is designed for 19" Rack-mount
and the Outdoor Booster Amplifier is designed for
masthead installation close to the antenna. The system
can carry up to 31 channel, analog or digital high
quality channels.
MAIN FEATURES
- Input band 220-420 MHz (138-338 MHz optional)
- Full broadband capability 2.5 to 2.7 GHz S-Band
(2.5 - 2.7 GHz)
- Transparent to modulation or encoding scheme
- Automatic Level Control (ALC) for the complete
system
- All system parameters are controlled from the
indoor unit
- Local monitoring and control via LCD display panel
- Remote monitor and control via RS-485 interface
- Accepts external or internal 10 MHz reference
- Weatherproof packaging for booster
System Description
The system consists of two main elements: a 19"
rack-mounted Up-Converter and Amplifier unit and a
masthead mounted Booster Amplifier unit. The Booster
Amplifier is available in powers 100, 150 and 200W.
Up to 20 dB of cable loss may be accommodated in the
coaxial cable connecting the Up-Converter to the
booster amplifier.
The Up-Converter converts the VHF signals in 222 -
408 MHz (or optionally 138 - 324 MHz) band to the
S-Band (2.5– 2.7 GHz). The signal is then amplified
for delivery to the outdoor masthead booster unit.
With a conversion gain of 37 dB in the Indoor
Up-Converter amplifier unit, up to 20 dB of
attenuation may be accommodated in the coaxial cable
connecting the indoor and the masthead units. The
total system conversion can be adjusted, locally
from the front panel or remotely via the serial
interface, from 55 dB to 75 dB.
An Automatic Level Control (ALC) system provided by
the controllers of both the Up-Converter and the
Amplifier, will (if activated) keep the output power
at a constant level, regardless of the loss
variations in the transmission line, the temperature
changes and other factors.
A serial communication link is established between
the Up-Converter and the Masthead unit. The complete
system is monitored and controlled via the indoor
unit front panel or remotely through the RS485
interface. The control functions include output
power adjustment, automatic level control (ALC) and
RF ON/OFF (mute/un-mute).
The system is phase locked to the station 10 MHz
reference, in the case of absence or failure of the
reference signal, the system will revert
automatically to an internal reference.
